Jody Durham – Blacksmith & Metal Artist based in Easley, South Carolina. I am a dedicated blacksmith and metal artist with a lifelong passion for shaping and transforming metal, fueled by a deep fascination with the fluid, almost organic movement of metal when brought to life through heat. My work ranges from fabricating custom signs and traditional forgings to sharing my expertise through teaching. As the president of the Philip Simmons Artist Blacksmith Guild (PSABG) for over five years, I’ve had the privilege of fostering community and craftsmanship among fellow artisans. I have also had the honor of teaching numerous classes at the renowned John C. Campbell Folk School, where I help others discover the art and discipline of blacksmithing. Recently, my creative focus has shifted toward intricate, small-scale sculptures—exploring animal forms and organic, nature-inspired ornamentation. Among these, the Acanthus leaf has become a signature motif in my work, reflecting both classical beauty and the timeless elegance of metal as an artistic medium.
