All of our hand hammers are hand forged in our shop in North Carolina from 1045 steel. They are finished and handled with hickory or ash handled by our master toolmakers using a process that will ensure they last a lifetime.

Made from Alatic 33 (A-33) also know as Flut-a-gon. This Industry defining steel is tough and made to last, learn more here about the rich history of A33. Each hammer is hand forged and expertly handeled with a hickory or ash, hand fit, blackened handle. There hammer come with a crafmans gaurontee for life.

These hammers are ergonomically designed to work with the body's natural movements. The handle is short with the overall length from the top of the head to the end of the handle of around 12 inches. This short handle lets you keep the hammer close to your body with you hand close to the head of the anvil, rotating each joint in your arm as you swing the hammer with the last joint being your wrist, like cracking a wipe for maximum velocity when you hit the steel. Each hammer is made from top-quality forged and heat-treated tool steel and finished and fitted with a shock-mounted wood handle. These hammers are all hand-dressed and finished by experts. Forged hammers will vary somewhat as they are hand-forged and hand-dressed. All B pattern hammers start our as the same size block but the peen type can affect the weight. Check the table below to get a rough idea of the weights for each size and peen.

The X-Pattern hammers are designed to withstand daily use by professional blacksmiths and farriers. They have a longer thin handle to give you leverage over you swing as needed. The overall length of the handle from the top of the head to the end of the handle is roughtly 15 inches. Each hammer is made from top-quality forged and heat-treated tool steel and finished and fitted with a shock-mounted wood handle. These hammers are all hand-dressed and finished by experts. Forged hammers will vary somewhat as they are hand-forged and hand-dressed. All X pattern hammers start our as the same size block but the peen type can affect the weight. While capable of drawing steel, using a K-Pattern hammers for this purpose can be cumbersome. Employing a specific technique is essential, though it tends to be challenging and more suited for wielding with a sledgehammer. The action closely resembles chopping wood. However, their primary function lies in planishing, asin to the traditional cutlers' hammers. Bladesmiths utilize them to forge uniform angled surfaces on blades. The additional weight allows them to manipulate metal with minimal swing, enabling a sharper focus on maintaining precise angles.
